Discover your cycle
All relationships have an unconscious cycle.
Counseling helps you choose a nourishing one.
Whether you’ve been together for six months or thirty years,
Are monogamous or one of the many Ethical Non-Monogamy structures,
Are super similar or complete opposites,
Have children or are childless by choice,
You each have a unique body, individual past and highly sophisticated survival parts impacting your ability to be in an authentic safe connection.
This is what we explore through Somatics, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Internal Family Systems.

Are you ready to investigate, experiment and change your cycle?
Common Challenges Faced by Couples + Throuples + Polycules:
How to open your relationship intentionally
Regulating emotions during disagreements
A partner feeling like they always have to initiate
A partner feeling like no matter what they do, they’ll never be good enough
Mismatched regulation needs, such as one partner wanting to “talk it out” and another “needing space”
A partner feeling like they are constantly “nagging” and the other “unable to follow through”
Differences around parenting styles
Mismatched love languages or unaware of your needs and unable to communicate effectively
Conflict stemming from family of origin, in-laws, or extended family
Fear of abandonment, jealousy or a strong attach response
Disconnection from emotions and the body
Mismatched sexual needs and desires
Conflict stemming from life transitions like a move or a newborn or a job change
The impacts of unresolved developmental trauma, such as insecure attachments
Balancing the needs and sense of connection to multiple partners
Systemic barriers faced by throuples and polycules
Ultimately, not being on the same page
If you experience any of these, then Couples+ Therapy may be right for you.

Get support before it’s too hard
So many folks believe you only go to couples+ therapy when “it’s really bad.” When you’re already at the point of deciding whether or not you should be together anymore.
And if that’s where you are, there’s absolutely no shame. You still deserve quality care too.
But couples+ at all stages of their relationship or length of time together, deserve help, and the earlier the better.
So whether you’ve been together for under a year or over five, you deserve support.
Whether you have a specific conflict you keep coming back to over and over again, or you want to develop a deeper connection and understanding holistically.
You can benefit from Couples+ therapy.

— Solasta McIntyre, Couples Therapist at Full & Plenty Joy
I was introduced to Couples Counseling during my studies at the CaIifornia Institute of Integral Studies, where I received my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from their Somatic Psychology Program. I studied under Gal Szekely, one of the founders of the famed Couples Center in San Francisco that fuses Emotionally Focused Therapy and Somatic Psychology together.
I love working with couples+ because I deeply believe we are hard-wired for connection as humans, and learning how to be in authentic connection is why we are here on Earth. The growth, the love and the humility that comes from this work is priceless.
I also love how tangible it is. Helping parents who’ve just had a newborn and are completely overwhelmed. Supporting a couple whose been together for many years, loves each other unconditionally and yet humbly desires more so wants to consciously open their relationship (we can’t be all things to everyone, including our beloveds!). Supporting throuples and polycules to fine tune their communication styles, clarify their needs, and set realistic and inspiring boundaries so you all can thrive in such an abundant love…all of it gives me great satisfaction.
I’m especially skilled at supporting neurodivergent couple+ who may have different ways or relating, communicating or emoting. As well as supporting relationship units who have a partner currently in treatment for an eating disorder.
While there’s no such thing as the perfect relationship or always being happy (or never “fighting”), I can’t imagine my life without the beauty of intimate relationships. If you feel this way too, I imagine our paths were meant to cross.
